Ich denke, Wilbers hat das nur ein wenig unglücklich ausgedrückt.
Der Umbau wird ähnlich wie bei der 2015RR/HP4 funktionieren mit dem DDC:
Im rechten Gabelholm, wo jetzt nur die Federvorspannung sitzt, wird ein zusätzliches Cartridge mit manueller Druck- und Zugstufe eingebaut.
Das Federbein bekommt auch einen manuellen Druck- und Zugstufen-Versteller und ggf. andere Kolben und 'nen größeren Ausgleichsbehälter.
Wenn im Text steht, bei der R bekommt das Federbein nur eine zusätzliche manuelle Druckstufe im high-/low-speed Bereich - ok, dann ist das so. Nicht sicher ob die DDC Gabel der R entsprechend angepasst werden muß - je nach Einsatzzweck sicher.
Die automatisch regulierende DDC Druck- und Zugstufe bleibt vorne und hinten immer voll erhalten, mit dem Umbau hat die Gabel und/oder das Federbein eine Basis und funktioniert wie eine konventionalle Federung in einem gewissen Bereich, wenn das DDC auf soft stellt. Bei der 2015RR/HP4 sollte dieser Umbau nur mit Race ECU und dem Race Calibration Kit zusammen gemacht werden. Nur der Federelemente-Umbau wird wohl das softe Gefühl der Gabel in Kurven und dieses pumpende Federbein etwas abstellen.

Vielleicht hilft das hier, dieses DDC/Update/System besser zu verstehen, auch wenn es nur zum Teil für die R anzuwenden ist:

On the other hand, several modifications of the DDC hardware to both rear shock and the front fork were conducted.
How do you get approach to these modifications:
For the software, please get in touch with your BMW dealer to flash an update onto your DDC-ECU (Update I-14-02-501), This update with new software will be conducted automatically when your HP4 is connected to the BMW maintenance system. The update has been online for BMW dealers since the beginning of March 2014. Please be aware, that this update is only active, when
- you have a HP RacePower Kit and a HP RaceCalibration Kit 2 installed, and
- you use the “Slick-Mode” together with the code plug active. (the other modes “Rain”, “Sport” and “Race” will remain like before.). Note: with the HP RaceCalibration Kit 2, the update can be assigned to each mode!

Here you will get an offer for the modification in front fork and rear shock according to the existing experience, our partner Wilbers made together with BMW experts of HP RaceSupport.
These hardware modifications will be offered, realized and manufactured from Wilbers and are exclusively under their own responsibility and independent from BMW Motorrad.
In case you only use the software update, you will achieve a certain improvement in Slick Mode and HP RacePower Kit as well HP RaceCalibration Kit 2 installed, best performance of the whole system is available when the new software meets the modified hardware as explained above.
